SEVEN BALLINGER HIGH SCHOOL BAND AND CHOIR MEMBERS PERFORM AT TEXAS STATE SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST

Seven Ballinger High School band and choir members performed at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest held Saturday (June 1, 2019) at Hendrickson High School and Kelly Lane Middle School in Pflugerville.
Results of their performances are as follows:
Benjamin C, Laura B, and Garrett Z each received Division 1 (Superior) Ratings and Gold Medals for their vocal solos.
Benjamin C received a Division 2 (Excellent) Rating and Silver Medal for his baritone saxophone solo.
Marina D, Aiden K, and Jayse V each received Division 2 (Excellent) Ratings and Silver Medals for their vocal solos.
Lexie D received a Division 3 (Acceptable) Rating, which approximates a Division I rating at the region level, for her vocal solo.
All instrumental and vocal solos were class 1 solos, designated as being of a high difficulty level.
Each of these students qualified for State by receiving Division I ratings in their respective events in regional UIL solo and ensemble competition earlier this spring.
Benjamin C and Laura B made their third appearances at state this year.
All directors were in agreement that each of these students prepared and performed to the very best of their abilities. They were great representatives of Ballinger High School.
Band directors Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Cleveland, choral directors Mr. and Mrs. Ellis, and Mrs. Dallas served as sponsors for the state event. Mr. Cleveland played the piano accompaniment for Benjamin’s instrumental solo and Mrs. Ellis played the accompaniments for the vocalists.
At least seventeen parents and family members attended the contest in support of their students’ performances.
