About Me

¡Hola y bienvenidos! (Hello and welcome!)

My name is Wendy Martinez-Barrera. First of all it is an honor and a privilege to be Ballinger's High School & Junior High, Spanish teacher! A little bit of my background, Spanish is my first language; I was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico. My family and I moved to the United States when I was 8 years old, to the small town of Childress, Texas. Located in the Panhandle area. I was enrolled in the second grade and placed in a ESL classroom, where my ESL teacher with patience and kindness helped me learn the English language. Her dedication and passion to teach me, inspired me to become a teacher.

I graduated from Childress High School, in 2012. I obtain my Associate's Degree in 2015, from Clarendon College. In August 2018, I graduated and received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX. With the experience of moving to a new country, adapting to the culture and learning its language, all have contributed to the person I am today.

As Ballinger's ISD Spanish teacher, I plan to bring my energy and passion for the Spanish language in the classroom. I want to inspire and encourage my students to learn, see and experience the beauty of speaking a second language!
