NINE BALLINGER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ADVANCE TO STATE IN UIL VOCAL SOLO AND ENSEMBLE COMPETITION, ONE BALLINGER JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT RECEIVES TOP RATNG
Nine Ballinger High School students received top ratings at the Region 7 UIL Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest, held at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Saturday, February 22, and qualified for participation in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest, to be held at Hendrickson High School in Plfugerville, near Austin, on May 28, 29, and 30.
Students taking Division I (Superior) ratings and gold medals on class 1 vocal solos (solos of a high difficulty level) are:

Bailey Dunn Jordan Reitmayer
Meredith Gray James Rouse
Clarice McKinnon Michael Young
Students receiving Division II (Excellent) ratings are:
In the junior high (middle school) division, seventh grader Layla Staker received a Division I (Superior) rating and medal on her solo.
Those in middle school do not advance to state.
Ida Lee Ellis and Matthew Cleveland played the piano accompaniments for the students.
Meredith and Jackson are also qualified for state on their instrumental solos.
Dale Ellis is sponsor of secondary choral activities. Junior High Band Director Matt Cleveland, Theater Arts Director Deidra Dallas, and Starr Sims, mother of Zakk Ottmers, traveled with the vocalists and served as sponsors for the event.
