Mrs. Jennifer Brown-Bio

Hello, Everyone! Go Bearcats!!!

I am Mrs. Jennifer Brown, the art teacher at Ballinger High School.   I am currently in my eighth year at Ballinger teaching students the basics and beyond of the fine arts. I currently teach Art 1 (basics, appreciation and history), Art 2, Art 3 and Art 4 Drawing/Painting, and Art 2, Art 3 and Art 4 Ceramics. Content in my classes include drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture and photography. I am the sponsor of V.A.S.E. (the UIL visual art event in the spring).

Here is a little background information about me. I graduated from Nashville High School in Nashville, Arkansas. From there I earned my BFA in Graphic Design from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. I worked in Little Rock, Arkansas in my field of Graphic Design for three years before deciding that I wanted to teach art instead. I have taught art in all grade levels from Pre-K to Adult through the years at Humnoke Public School, New Boston ISD, Lake Hamilton Public Schools, Cavazos Junior High in Lubbock ISD, Woodson Center for Excellence and now Ballinger ISD.

I received my MAE from Texas Tech University where I met my husband, Calvin Brown. Calvin is from Santa Anna, which is how I ended up in Texas. Calvin is also an art major and is a high school art teacher and coach in Santa Anna. We have three sons, Bruce (18), who will be running track for McMurry University in the fall and  Brock (15) and Brad (13) who both attend Santa Anna ISD. All three play every sport and are artistic like their parents.

My main goal at Ballinger High School is to leave a positive and lasting impression on my students for the love and appreciation of the arts.

Some of my favorite quotes are:

“Good, Better, Best

Never Let it Rest

Until the Good is Better

And the Better Best”

“Leave people, places, things and animals in better condition than you found them.”

“Treat others the way that you would want to be treated.”

“You get out of anything what you put into it. If you do nothing then you get nothing.

Do something.”

I am absolutely thrilled to be a Ballinger Bearcat

Thank you for allowing me to teach your children.
