Financial Aid Resources

• take or have registered to take the SAT and/or ACT,
• had my test scores sent to the appropriate college or university,
• investigated my preferred institutions,
• submitted application material for admission to preferred institutions and have also paid any required fees,
• applied for either on-campus or off-campus housing and paid necessary deposits,
• requested that my high school office sends official transcripts to my college of choice,
• taken the TSI (Texas Success Initiative exam) if I am planning to attend a Texas public college or university,
• thoroughly investigated with my parents, counselor, and/or principal financial aid scholarship opportunities,
• research free sources that are available through the web and understand that I should never pay for any scholarship search,
• requested or submitted an institutional financial aid/scholarship application from the college or university I plan to attend, if required,
• parent and student must apply for an independent FSA ID (username and password) at https://fsaid.ed.gov,
• discussed with my parent the need to have their prior year income tax return and any W-2 forms available when completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA),
• submit the FAFSA as early as possible after the open date.
• check priority deadlines for each institution interested in attending,
• visit one or more college campuses,
• attend a college day/night program typically held on a high school or college campus,
• attend financial aid orientation covering all aspects of the financial aid application process, loans, grants, scholarships and work study,
• respond promptly to any requests for information from the school or university,
• make arrangements for my final high school transcript to be sent to the college or university that I have chosen.

HB-3 Will be in effect this year-requiring all High School Seniors complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid OR the Texas Application for State Financial Aid for graduation requirements. Unless they qualify for an exemption.
